Our Neighborhood Marketing Initiative launched in 2014 as part of the NeighborWorks America Neighborhood Marketing Program.
Marketing Our Neighborhoods
Fundamentally, the work of neighborhood revitalization is about influencing decisions around the investment of time, energy, and resources in a neighborhood. Whether to buy in a neighborhood or avoid that neighborhood, whether to invest for the long-term or seek short-term profits as a landlord, whether to open a business in this neighborhood or that, whether to invest one’s time in community actions or to withdraw that investment. These are the decisions that make or break neighborhoods.
All these decisions involve someone taking some level of risk and part of the work of neighborhood revitalization is figuring out how to make those decisions less risky.
At the core of our Neighborhood Marketing Initiative is an emphasis on influencing that decision making in ways that can strengthen the neighborhood – to attract and retain homeowners, better landlords, and more businesses. Learn more about this effort in our recent blog post.
Planning the Brand and Other Interventions
Strategies from our Marketing Plan aim to stabilize the real estate market, raise physical standards, strengthen the capacity of people to self-manage the positive work in their neighborhood and reinforce the positive image that we are continuing to build.
We have organized a steering committee comprised of local business owners, residents, real estate professions, city councilors and other nonprofit professional from a range of organizations. NWBRV will take a leadership role in organizing and enabling collaboration between the steering committee and neighborhood residents. The work will all be determined and directed through the steering committee.
Welcome to Fairmount!
NWBRV worked with partners in the City, Riverzedge, Fairmount Foundry, Community Care Alliance, Signworks, etc. to create a welcoming new neighborhood gateway. See photos below.
