On March 18th, the Center for Women and Enterprise (CWE) will kick off a new series of programming at our Homeownership Center in Woonsocket. The session will help those interested in starting a business decide whether it is the right choice for them. They will also be hosting a 10-week business planning course in Woonsocket as well.
The Center for Women & Enterprise is a nationally known nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people start and grow their businesses. CWE has worked with more than 30,200 Massachusetts and Rhode Island entrepreneurs since 1995. Their mission is to provide opportunities for women entrepreneurs and women in business to increase professional success, personal growth, and financial Independence. They provide: education, training, technical assistance, and women’s business enterprise certification to those they serve.
We began our partnership in 2014, working together on our BOOST! 100 Women initiative. CWE graciously hosted workshops at their location in Providence and worked with our participants interested in starting their own businesses.
“We choose Woonsocket to launch our program and NeighborWorks to be our community partner, because the goal is with our Community Classrooms Initiative to encourage the growth of local businesses; increase the number of those businesses owned by people of color, women, and immigrants; increase beneficial outcomes for local businesses and communities that have been historically shortchanged by development decisions; improve job quality in low wage sectors; and expand access to higher-paying jobs and promising career paths in emerging industries.” said Carmen Diaz-Jusino, Director of New Enterprise and WBC from CWE.
NWBRV is excited to expand our partnership and welcomes CWE, and their high quality services, to Northern RI!
