The 2016 Woonsocket Main Street Holiday Stroll will take place on Saturday, December 3rd from 2-7 PM. Residents are invited to join us for this annual celebration of the holidays and Woonsocket culture.
Local vendors and performances will be centered on the Mullen Municipal parking lot in historic downtown Woonsocket. Businesses along Main Street will also be participating in the day’s festivities in a scavenger hunt and window decorating competition.
The day will feature performances from local school bands and choirs, as well as a demonstration by professional ice sculptor.
At NWBRV’s recently developed event space at 40 South Main Street, there will be a holiday-themed children’s book reading. This event, which is funded through our Creative Placemaking grant, brings together regional authors in a holiday celebration focused on youth literacy.
Also as part of the Creative Placemaking initiative, local art teacher Diane Myers will be hosting a gallery space in the basement of the 40 South Main building. Local artists will be displaying and selling their work. The gallery will be open during the stroll and Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve.
Attendance for the stroll is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to support local businesses at the event.
Updates can be found on the event facebook page, along with information about volunteer opportunities. If you are interested in volunteering for the day’s events, or are a local vendor interested in selling at the stroll, please contact Holiday Stroll committee member Paula Rezendes at prezendes@neighborworksbrv.org or Melissa Murray at theopulentsquid@gmail.com .
