On Tuesday, December 18th, the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation named Woonsocket, Rhode Island as one of 18 small to mid-sized towns and cities across America to win a Levitt AMP Grant Award of $25K in matching funds to present a free concert series at River Island Art Park. NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley submitted Woonsocket’s Levitt AMP proposal.
“We are thrilled to announce the 2019 Levitt AMP Grant Awards winners, and express our appreciation to everyone who voted online to choose the finalists,” says Sharon Yazowski, Executive Director of the Levitt Foundation. “NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley will bring the second Levitt AMP Woonsocket Music Series to life in River Island Art Park, serving as a cultural, community, and economic catalyst for the city—bringing people of all backgrounds together to celebrate and strengthen Woonsocket’s downtown core.”
We at NWBRV are beyond excited to once again partner with the Levitt Foundation to bring a second year of FREE live music to River Island Art Park. This event is made possible through key partnerships with St. James Baptist Church, the Downtown Woonsocket Collaborative, Blackstone Valley Tourism Council, and the City of Woonsocket.
“We are very excited to once again bring these 10 Free concerts to Downtown Woonsocket at River Island Art Park” states Garrett Mancieri, President of the Downtown Woonsocket collaborative. “The activation of this park all summer long brings thousands of people to our District, offering an economic boost to our local businesses. It has also united our community to rally and win this grant to bring such great entertainment at no cost to our community.”
