NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley is thrilled to have been selected by area partner Bank of America as a recipient of a June 2022 Affordable Housing round of funding! We’d like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Bank of America for their continuous dedication to NWBRV’s mission to generate affordable housing opportunities over the years. The impact their funding will make on the community we serve is truly invaluable.

“Funders are central to the work we do on a daily basis,” said NWBRV’s Director of HomeOwnership & Asset Building Services Daynah Williams. “Bank of America’s help allows us to ensure the services we provide are impactful and continue to grow.”
Bank of America’s generous donation will help NWBRV build on the success of this tried and true financial capabilities program. The commitment that BOA has made to affordable housing is a true gift to our organization, as they provide general operating support helping us to accomplish our mission. Believing strongly themselves that homeownership strengthens communities and can help individuals and families to build wealth over time, Bank of America strives to create sustainable homeownership opportunities for Black and Hispanic families. We’re deeply grateful for their commitment to our organization.
While NWBRV has an active pipeline of 297 affordable rental units, construction of safe, healthy affordable housing takes time to finance and build. Despite our efforts, there is still a shortage of 12,756 affordable homes, 2,033 of which are absent from the cities and towns we serve. We do our best to increase purchasing power of individuals through financial education, preparing potential renters and homebuyers for successful tenancy and ownership and providing comprehensive childcare and mentorship to K-12 youth, enabling their families to work. Operating support from Bank of America’s generous grant will provide NWBRV with the additional financial resources necessary to fund mission-driven progress.
Our work has set a standard for comprehensive community development by breaking down the silos that often thwart true impact across sectors. With efforts widely recognized in the State and throughout the region, our work has altered the mindsets of many from actively stopping affordable housing and community development to proactively embracing it. We’re grateful to area partners like Bank of America for their generosity and kinship in our shared missions.
