Having won the series in 2018 and 2019, Woonsocket is once again in the running to bring back the 10 week Levitt AMP Woonsocket Music Series to the City during summer 2020.
To spice things up this year, we are hosting two Levitt AMP Voting Parties. “One of the things people love so much about Levitt is getting together with their friends, listening to great music, and meeting new people ” says Meg Rego, Director of Resource Development & Communications and Series organizer for NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley. “Our Levitt Voting Parties will remind everyone of the Joy of Levitt. They are hosted at great community gathering placed, include free live music, and give people plenty of incentive to vote for Levitt AMP Woonsocket through generous raffle items.”

Sponsored by the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation, a national foundation dedicated to strengthening the social fabric of America through free live music. Woonsocket hopes to qualify as one of 15 winning organizations competing in the Levitt AMP [Your City] Grant Awards.
The Levitt AMP [Your City] Grant Awards are an exciting matching grant opportunity created by the Levitt Foundation to serve small to mid-sized towns and cities with populations up to 400,000. Up to 15 nonprofits will receive $25,000 each in matching funds to produce their own Levitt AMP Music Series—an outdoor, free concert series featuring a diverse lineup of professional musicians.
NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley submitted the proposal for Woonsocket in partnership with the City Administration, the Downtown Woonsocket Collaborative, V!DA Church, G COLE Productions, and Beacon Charter School for the Arts. The goal is to once again bring the power of free, live music to River Island Art Park, activating the city for another summer of concerts. Woonsocket’s proposal is now posted on the Levitt AMP website for public voting. http://levittamp.org
A successful campaign for the City depends on community participation to get as many online votes as possible to bring the concert series to town. Community support, as measured by the number of online votes received, will be one of the key factors when the Levitt Foundation selects up to 15 winners.
Supporters are asked to visit https://grant.levittamp.org/voter-registration-page/ to register and vote. Online public voting is now open and ends November 20 at 8:00 p.m.. The Top 25 finalists will be selected through online public voting. The Levitt Foundation will then review the proposals of these 25 finalists and will select up to 15 Levitt AMP winners, which will be announced late December 2020.
NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley asks supporters to start spreading the word to family, friends, colleagues and neighbors and rally the community to sign up and vote for Woonsocket’s proposal.
“With the success of the past two seasons, we’re very hopeful to bring this dynamic and diverse series back to the community!” says Meg Rego, Director of Resource Development & Communications for NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley. “In 2020 we hope to continue to expand the series, offering more activities for kids, vendors, and engaging activities for all in the park. But we need everyone’s help to make this happen!”
This year, there are 33 sites in the running for Levitt AMP Funding. At the end of the public voting round we hope for Woonsocket to be within the top 10 for the best chance at winning a series. During past public voting rounds we placed 8th for the 2019 series and 7th for the 2018 series. For 2019 we hope to beat both of those rankings.
