We were thrilled this month to team up with Citizens Bank for a joint landscaping-spring clean up project at our Front Street Location, as well as properties in the Constitution Hill neighborhood!

A large component of our mission here at NWBRV centers not only around qualifying for homeownership, but being prepared to maintain your home once purchased. We were so please to aid our homeowners in keeping their properties looking their best as we teamed up with 40 of Citizens’ most dedicated volunteers! From garden bed prep and mulching, to cleaning and clearing fallen tree limbs and trash, our April 9 clean-up has put an extra spring in all of our steps.
“On behalf of NWBRV, we want to thank Citizens and their team for the tremendous amount of work they completed last week!” NWBRV’s Meg Rego said. “The neighborhood looks beautiful and we’re so appreciative that your efforts were dedicated to our community.”
The 40 member Citizens team began at our Main office, and broke into smaller groups to take on the weeding, mulching, trimming, and trash disposal projects throughout our affordable housing community in Constitution Hill and Front Street, which were just short walks from the initial meeting area.

“At Citizens, we are deeply committed to supporting the communities we serve. Our mission goes beyond banking; it’s about making a meaningful difference in people’s lives,” said Katie Soares, Public Affairs Market Manager, Citizens. “By partnering with local nonprofits, we aim to help individuals thrive, support the success of vital community programs, and foster a brighter future for all.”
At NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley NWBRV, we believe that building strong, vibrant neighborhoods starts with helping the people who live here. Having spent the last decade vacant and boarded up, the two-unit Woonsocket Front Street property underwent a gut overhaul and rehabilitation in 2021. Equipped with new windows, roof, siding and appliances, these energy efficient units now have flawless landscaping to match their brand new construction.
“This work had a direct impact on the 100+ families who live in our properties throughout this area,” NWBRV Deputy Director Christian Caldarone said. “We had such a successful event.”

NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley is continually thrilled to be selected by area partner Citizens Bank as a recipient of their loyal outreach. We’d like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Citizens for their continuous commitment to NWBRV’s mission over the years. The impact their funding and volunteer efforts make on the community we serve is truly invaluable.
