Lori Sowell and her family rented one of NWBRV’s properties in Woonsocket for many years and had taken a homebuyer education class to learn more about purchasing a home. She knew that her credit score was in need of repair and she wasn’t ready to purchase just yet. Over the next few years, Lori worked with her NWBRV financial coach, Rosalind Mitchell, and was able to eliminate debt and improve her credit score by over 200 points.
“Working with NWBRV has helped me so that I can now reinforce the message to my kids, ‘if you can’t afford it, don’t buy it,’” reports Sowell. She goes on, “If you have a goal and take baby steps, you will get there eventually”. After many years of hard work, Lori closed on her first home in August of 2014.
