With the weather heating up, NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley is proud to present the Millrace Music Series. Starting May 7th, this eight-week, Friday night series will be held outside on the patio of 40 South Main Street, Woonsocket, RI. Shows begin at 6pm and continue to 8:30pm.
Free entertainment is provided each evening by some highly talented local musicians and food is available for purchase from onsite members of the Millrace Kitchen and from local carry out businesses such as Ye Olde English Fish & Chips, New York Lunch, and Ocean’s Café all within walking distance.
The combination of music and food is a proven driver of economic vitality. In recognition, Citizens Bank, through its charitable foundation and in partnership with LISC RI, selected NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley as a recipient of its Growing Communities Initiative which will invest $50,000 in Woonsocket over the course of the year through programs like the Millrace Music Series.
Additional support for the series was provided by the RI State Council on the Arts (RISCA). Upon learning of our plans to launch a mini-concert series on the patio at 40 South Main Street, Randall Rosenbaum, executive director of RISCA said, “The State Arts Council is pleased to support the Millrace Music Series as it works to build community through the power of music. Arts are essential, especially during these challenging times, and at the core of the health and well-being of Rhode Island.”

5/14 – Kim Trusty, Providence-based, Blues/Jazz/Souk/R&B, really a little bit of everything
5/21 – Lisa Bello, Award-winning R & B singer and songwriter
5/28 – Dynamite Rhythm, Woonsocket-based, Rock & Roll songs of the 50s, 60s, and 70s
6/4 – High Planes, Country and Bluegrass meet the Blues when this 5-piece group gets together
6/11 – Eastern Medicine Singers¸ Traditional Algonquin drumming
6/18 & 25 – TBD/Rain Dates
The family-friendly series is free and open to the public. No pre-registration is required, though seating is limited and all COVID-19 capacity limits will be enforced. Attendees must follow RI COVID-19 guidelines for outdoor events including masking and 6’ social distancing.
