NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley is thrilled to support the Millrace Kitchen, an incubator space designed to support food business startups. Since opening in 2017, over 40 food businesses have worked out of the kitchen space at 40 South Main Street.
In this series, you’ll Meet the Millrace Members, get a sense of what it takes to start a food business and learn of some incredible food and baked goods being made right in downtown Woonsocket.
Tell us about yourself and your business.
We are Aliquots Catering! Aliquots is derived from a word used in science that means “a portion of the whole thing”. Our goal and philosophy is to create big food delivered in small quantities. So that’s what we do! We make small meals and provide an experience. And people like it! My name is Stefan Girgenrath. I’m the owner on paper, but it’s a family run operation. My wife is the better cook! We’ve been doing this for a long time privately, and became more commercialized about five years ago serving the Boston Metro Southwest area.
What type of food do you make?
We provide a variety of different kinds of food and small plate menus from all around the world. Italian, Mediterranean, Indian, Irish-we can do it all! We are very versatile and can work with what the client wants. We do weddings, showers, birthdays, graduations, brunches, etc. We can help you with hot or cold hor d’oeuvres (a.k.a aliquots) along with some buffet options of fruits, cheese, salads, dips, and fresh assortment of breads from all over the world. No matter what the occasion, we will plan and deliver. We offer complete menu planning, food, and non-alcoholic drinks. Alcohol can be served with special permits.

What are your food business dreams?
Millrace has been our operational base for 3 years now and has been instrumental in getting us where we are now today. We’re very happy with where we are!
