NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley is thrilled to support the Millrace Kitchen, an incubator space designed to support food business startups. Since opening in 2017, over 40 food businesses have worked out of the kitchen space at 40 South Main Street.
In this series, you’ll Meet the Millrace Members, get a sense of what it takes to start a food business and learn of some incredible food and baked goods being made right in downtown Woonsocket.
Tell us about yourself and your business.

Hello, my name is Margaret Siassi! Before I recently retired from the food service industry, I wanted something to keep me busy. Since I am Gluten Intolerant, I chose to make Gluten-free spice mixes. I found that most commercial products contain hidden gluten so I wanted to offer a healthy alternative.
What type of food do you make?
Spicy Cat Mixes offers Gluten-free and No or Low Sodium products, made in small batches right here at the Millrace Kitchen. I add new and seasonal products throughout the year. Millrace has been an ideal space to work!
How can customers find you?
Spicy Cat Mixes can be found at my Etsy store! Please visit us on Etsy to see what we have in stock. My products can also be found at Tasty’s Bagels in Norton and Plainville, MA. I will also be participating in the Pawtucket Farmer’s Market starting in May which I’m really looking forward to!
What are your food business dreams?
My ultimate goal is to keep myself engaged and active in my retirement while offering a delicious, fresh and healthy product to Gluten-free consumers.
