We’re so lucky at NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley to have a staff of hardworking, committed team-players who work tirelessly at our mission of building affordable housing and enriching community life.
In this particular highlight, you’ll get to know two of our interns behind our summer work! Join us in welcoming Abigail Angelone and Kemily Henry!
Tell us about yourselves.
Abigail: My name is Abigail Angelone! I am from North Providence, Rhode Island.

Kemily: My name is Kemily Henry! I am a singer and manager of the first RNB girl Group, Rare Desire, at my PWI campus(follow us on Instagram @thee_raredesire). I am also the treasurer of the only Hip Hop Dance Crew on my campus, and this coming semester, I plan to join the Kpop dance team. I enjoy reading and watching anime, musicals, Korean dramas, or any TV show during my free time. I am quiet and friendly, but I am pretty talkative and funny once we’re close.
Where do you go to school?
Abigail: I’m a student at American University! I am a junior and am studying political science.
Kemily: I attend the University of New Haven in West Haven, CT. I am working towards my BA in Music industry and an MBA in Business Administration with a minor in Beverage Management.
Why did you choose to intern with NWBRV?
Abigail: I chose to intern for NWBRV because of their passion for giving back to the community, which is something that I wanted to be a part of.
Kemily: I chose to intern with NWBRV because I was on a search to work close to a stage. Essentially, it was to adopt a role that involved live music and the music industry. I found Meg and emailed her my resume. Now, here we are.
What are you doing this summer?
Abigail: This summer I am working with the Neighborworks Art Center and the Levitt AMP Concert Series. At the concert series, I am organizing a book drive to give back to the Art Center.
Kemily: This summer, I’m overseeing Levitt Amp Woonsocket‘s Social Media—mainly Facebook and Instagram. I am also the stage manager every Friday of the music series. That entails making sure everyone is where they need to be ahead of time, has what they need, and relaying information about vendors, food trucks, new announcements, or changes in plans to our wonderful MCs. Additionally, before every show, I introduce myself to our opener and headliner, letting them know who I am and am there to help with cues.
What do you hope to learn?
Abigail: I really hope to work on my public speaking skills!
Kemily: I hope to learn the courage to be more assertive and organized. With all my hobbies and desires, it’s easy to become preoccupied and place organization further down my list. But since working with Meg, I believe I have improved. However, there is much to learn and practice.
What’s been the biggest highlight of your internship so far?

Abigail: My favorite highlight so far this summer was being able to speak about the book drive on stage during the concert series! This was something that I really enjoyed doing and I was able to gain public speaking skills.
Kemily: Highlights so far are the talented artists I’ve met and the friends I’ve made. I feel so welcomed by the Levitt Amp Woonsocket team. My only wish is that I could intern again.
