We’re so lucky at NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley to have a staff of hardworking, committed team-players who work tirelessly at our mission of building affordable housing and enriching community life.
In this series, you’ll get to know the people behind the work.
Tell us about yourself.
Hello! My name is Flore Rateau! I have been in the human service field for about two decades managing or operating a variety of backgrounds and abilities. I have a degree in human services and management from Phoenix University. I am a resident in the community as well. I have two children that attend schools within the community.

What do you do at NWBRV?
NWBRV provides an affordable, year-round youth program called College Ready Communities (CRC’s), for school aged youth located in Woonsocket. My current role here at NeighborWorks is Senior Educations Manager for the College Career Community within NeighborWorks.
How long have you been working with NWBRV, and how did you start working with the organization?
I have been working here for about 6 months now! I stumbled upon NeighborWorks when I was looking for a job that would allow me to work closer to home and to my children’s schools. NeighborWorks has fit the bill perfectly, while allowing me to do the work that I love!
What inspires you to do this work?
The idea of helping even one person, with something as simple as giving them a direction or path to follow, does make my heart happy! And with my role here at NeighborWorks, I’m able to help give that direction to youth looking for guidance.
What is your proudest accomplishment working with NWBRV?
My proudest moment or accomplishment over my time here is definitely the relationships that I’ve built, and watch build. I’ve been able to help grow and develop relationships within the community, and especially relationships with my team. The bonds that we’ve formed I know will last a long time!
