There’s one week left to be a part of a truly special, unique, musical experience here in Woonsocket this spring! Please join us on April 25 as we host for the last time this month, Algonquin Eastern drum group, the Eastern Medicine Singers in our incredible, multifaceted Millrace Event Space!
Using their native language for musical inspiration and content, the Eastern Medicine Singers have played together for 15 years–predominantly at powwows, historical events and opening ceremony events.
“We just started this official drum circle in Woonsocket this year, but we have had events at Millrace before!” said Daryl Jamieson of the Eastern Medicine Singers. “I love the Millrace Event Space. We haven’t organized a drum circle like this in other communities, but feel that it’s really needed here in Woonsocket.”
The esteemed drum group also created Medicine Singers in 2018, teaming with Yonatan Gat from Israel, a rock guitar player. With current world tour plans on the books, their latest release features several talented musicians–landing them headlining spots in the NY Times, Pitchfork and Indian Country Today. Their joy, talent and passion for music and community has been an asset to the Woonsocket community this year.
The impact is wonderful! People have already gotten so much exposure to real drumming that they wouldn’t have gotten. We have had many repeat students and love the community here. Each night is amazing!”

Daryl, who brought his production of Drums & Music of the Americas to NWBRV in 2018, recently partnered with Lee Mangano of NRG. Taking their collaboration to a new level, Daryl and Lee, who also manages ICR Drummers teaching Drumline to children, have come together to foster a love for music and drumming in the next generation.
Together, Lee and I teach free to the community! The drum circle will come to an end this month, as we will be performing and touring soon, but you never know–maybe we’ll return! We have hopes to continue the Drumline! ”
