Our seniors residing at The Meadows, an independent living community located in North Smithfield, Rhode Island, are consistently provided with engagement opportunities. And 2024 has not only brought excitement and celebration to the Senior Living development–it’s also delivered Reiki sessions to our wonderful residents!
One resident wrote me a note thanking me for our Meditation opportunity and to please continue. I am so excited to now also be offering Reiki sessions to residents who are interested!”
Lucy Goulet, Meadows Resident Services Coordinator
Taking place on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:30am, the Reiki sessions have been hosted by level II Reiki Practitioner and Meadows Coordination extraordinaire, Lucy Goulet herself!
“I have done six sessions so far this month!” Lucy shared. “As a level II Reiki practitioner, my challenge has been helping residents understand the power of excepting positive energy and letter go of negative energy that has caused them to feel stress and anxiety. I have created a space in the wellness room that is inviting for relaxation and peace.”
While a relatively new concept for many of the residents, Lucy anticipates sessions quickly drawing more and more folks in. With limitless wellness benefits at its disposal, Reiki truly is a practice for everyone.
“The residents that have accepted the practice of Reiki have walked away feeling more relaxed and lighter,” Lucy shared. “One resident actually said she had felt like some of the tension she had been holding in her neck and back was relieved!”
While sessions will be continuously posted in the Meadows monthly newsletter, residents are also welcome to contact Lucy directly at 401-762-2333 or Lgoulet@nwbrv.org, or to visit the main office to sign up–whether it’s to learn more about the Reiki sessions or inquire about upcoming fall fun!
As a practitioner I work to live by the five precepts of Reiki. ‘Just for Today.’ I will be kind to every living thing, I will not worry, I will do my work honestly, I will not be angry, I will be grateful for my many blessings.”

“In addition this month, we are having the first in a series of armchair travel! In October with the help of one of our residents, we will be experiencing the Greek culture,” Lucy said of autumn’s upcoming activities. “We will be having Greek trivia, Greek music, Greek dancing, Greek food, a video of the Greek landmarks and history. All will be finished with a movie ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’!”
