While the 2024 Levitt AMP Woonsocket Music Series may have come to a close, our appreciation to the weekly volunteers, sponsors and planning committee who helped make this concert series a continued success, will continue throughout the rest of the year.
Through the commitment and hard work of our sponsors and weekly volunteers, Woonsocket’s Levitt AMP Woonsocket Music Series consistently looked and felt the way it did each and every Friday you walked into River Island Art Park. Every single successful concert required dedication and effort; from the manual labor of setting up tents and lawn games, to artistic efforts, like photography and artisan vendors. Simply put-our series wouldn’t exist without the musicians and those who support them.
With 10 concerts occurring from June 14 through August 23, the Series was attended by a staggering total of 3726 guests throughout the course of the summer. Our July 12th performance featuring Steve Smith & the Naked Truth set a record of 771 attendees!
Given what we know as a culture about the negative effects that loneliness has on communities, we’re thrilled that Levitt AMP Woonsocket is a key driver of community connectedness and a source regularly drawing locals together! The season officially closed on September 24th with a Levitt Appreciation event held at Millrace attended by over 40 volunteers and sponsors. What better way to close out the season than a jovial bout of karaoke!

Aside from the celebratory time had at Millrace honoring all of the amazing supporters of Levitt AMP Woonsocket, we also had the pleasure this fall of touching base with a couple of Levitt AMP Woonsocket’s biggest fans. There’s truly nothing like hearing up close and personal what Levitt means to its attendees! Ondrea Robinson, a Woonsocket born and bred poet, shared with us her take on what Levitt means to her hometown.
“I have lived in Woonsocket my entire life,” Ondrea shared. “At 43 years old, I am an autism advocate for not only myself but for those who are on the spectrum and their loved ones. And I love music! The concerts are so much fun, and there’s so much to do. When you have free concerts, you keep people out of trouble. I love Woonsocket! You can find something to do, enjoy the music and socialize with people!”
A second Woonsocket resident and Levitt Volunteer, Dan Tvaroha, shared with us his take on Levitt AMP Woonsocket, sharing that his favorite thing about Woonsocket is its thriving community.
“I love the groups that get together and plan and do things for the city to make it better, whether it be the Levitt AMP Woonsocket Music Series, Autumnfest, Downtown Woonsocket Collaborative, or other things,” Dan shared. “Many of the same people volunteer; they’re just great people to work with. Everything we do enhances life here. I would tell someone who’s never been to a Levitt Amp concert that if there is a genre of music that you like, we host a band that resembles that. It’s just so much fun. You’re experiencing different music every week. It’s a community you’ll want to be a part of.”
As an organization, NeighborWorks Blackstone RIver Valley would like to extend our sincere thanks to all who contributed to Season 6 of the Levitt AMP Woonsocket Music Series! Whether you were one of the 66 sponsors and “Friends of Levitt,” 57 volunteers, 11 food and craft vendors, part of the City team that kept River Island Art Park safe and beautiful, a committed member of our planning committee, or one of the 49 local musicians who performed on our Levitt Stage, you were central to our mission of building community and supporting our local businesses through the power of free, live music. Please see below for the complete recapture of our incredible sponsors and area partners. Events like this simply cannot happen without funding and each and every one of you helped make this season a reality!
“Music is one of the reasons I’m alive today. It is who I am as a person. It is one of the most important parts of my life, and I will always fight for music and the arts. I see the power of music not only to create friendships but also to heal and to build community.”
