If there’s one thing that we’re good at here at The Meadows, it’s celebrating! And we can’t think of a better reason to celebrate than 90th birthdays and ice cream!

On March 11th, Meadows resident Hermance Robidoux (lovingly known as Minn), gifted her fellow residents and friends a homemade ice cream making demonstration in honor of her 90th birthday. With 25 residents in attendance, Minn demonstrated how to make your own pistachio ice cream–which included painstakingly shelling an entire bag of pistachios!
“When I asked Min if she would be willing to demonstrate how to make the ice cream, she jumped at it!” said Meadows Resident Service Coordinator Lucy Goulet. “She said, ‘it’s so easy, I feel embarrassed.’ But when the residents heard she was going to show us all how to make it, everyone was thrilled to learn! Two joined in with the process!”
Making ice cream for many years at the Meadows for Tenant Association functions is just one of our beloved Minn’s many talents and accomplishments! Turning 90 two days after her demonstration, Minn’s vast life experiences include running a fast food truck at Spring Lake, honing her exceptional quilting skills and most importantly, enjoying her family and friends.

“The number of people who were in attendance was more than what they normally have for a community function,” Lucy shared on behalf of a resident. “The residents felt that it was a great support to Minn. It was a demonstration of how much they care and respect each other here at the Meadows.”
Sharing in the hands-on making ice cream fun, were residents Reggie Langlois and Suzanne Grenier–with Reggie crafting Maple Walnut ice cream and Suzanne making vanilla! The next day, after the ice
cream froze, Meadows residents were were treated to samples of the delicious desserts.
“Minn said she had so much fun doing this!” Lucy said. “She encouraged other residents to come forward to share their skills for future events. She is also featured on the Meadows Facebook page, thrilled that her children will now be able to see pictures of the event on social media!”

As a new RSC at the Meadows, I have seen the dedication the residents have to each other and the pride they have living here at the Meadows. I am inspired by Minn and all the other residents.”
